TH-Core 700 is a new multi-modal purification chromatography resin designed for intermediate and fine purification of viruses and other biomolecules. The medium has a double-layer structure, core microspheres and a thin shell. The core microspheres are prepared by cross-linking octylamine ligands onto highly rigid agarose, which is anionic and hydrophobic; the thin shell is a layer of agarose without ligands, which is molecularly sieve-like. During purification, macromolecules such as viruses cannot enter the interior of the microspheres through the shell and therefore flow through directly, and most impurities can enter the interior of the microspheres to bind to the medium through ionic and hydrophobic interactions. These features make TH-Core 700 an excellent choice for virus purification media in vaccine production. With molecular weight exclusion resistance of 700KD, biomolecules smaller than the corresponding molecular weight can enter the interior of the microspheres and bind to the ligand groups, while biomolecules larger than the corresponding molecular weight will be blocked from flowing through the chromatography column outside the microspheres.

Features:

  • The double-layer structure of the microspheres allows the medium to effectively adsorb impurities while the target protein flows through, thus achieving the effect of purification.
  • The impurities bind in hydrophobic and ionic modes under a wide range of operating conditions due to flow-through of the target.
  • The high sample uptake as well as the high flow rates allow for a significant increase in productivity compared to conventional molecular sieve media.
